Three Years Ago,

Journey Coffee Co. revived the historic Vacaville theater to create an inclusive space for Solano County’s growing art scene and community. But now as the hard work of preserving this near century old landmark is almost complete, we are faced with refinancing the theater or we may lose this amazing place.

We kindly ask for your help to continue our mission.

Why are we doing a fundraiser?

Over the years, we’ve provided Vacaville and Solano County a unique place to hold concerts, shows, seminars, fundraisers, meetings, and much much more. Our amazing staff works incredibly hard to meet the needs of the community - from big events, to our regular main street customers that drop by the cafe each day. It’s all part of our goal to enrich the community.

We’re the first business since the theater’s construction nearly a century ago to occupy the Vacaville Downtown Theater and make it financially sustainable.

We need to raise $500,000 to afford the refinancing of the theater. Please join us in continuing what has been started in this theater!

since starting we have:

- Brought over 200,000 people through our doors,

- Hosted over than 300 events

- Raised over $300,000 for local non-profits

Meet our founders:

Morne and Nicole Van Staden

Originally a pilot from South Africa, Morne met Nicole while she was in school to become a special needs teacher. With a love for both coffee and people, they up and left for California 12 years ago, bought a food truck, threw an espresso machine in it, and Journey Coffee Co. was born. While they eventually sold the food truck to afford the first cafe (on Alamo in Vacaville), Journey has only grown. Among other things, we now roast our own fair-trade coffee in house at our location on Chadbourne, opened Journey Downtown, started a craft cocktail bar in a 100 year old public library right next door, and recently opened our newest cafe at a quaint little spot in Napa.

Morne and Nicole knew that running a performance-space/event-venue/cafe/bar/restaurant place that does everything and more would be a challenge. But where the banks see a string of struggling theater operations, Morne and Nicole see a place where they can give back to the community that gave life to Journey Coffee Co. Together, through Journey Downtown, we’ve set out to make a space in Solano County for genuine human connection through art, music, dance, laughter, celebration, love, and great coffee. With your support, we hope to continue this mission.

Thank you for over a decade of support - there’s many more to come.
